Basic Information
Full name: Aleigh Elizabeth Desmond
Nicknames: n/a
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Birth date: 3 December 1945
Bloodline: Pure-blood
Occupation: Ancient Runes Professor at Hogwarts
Appearance
Height: 5’9
Weight/Body Type:
Hair: brown
Eyes: blue
General Description: (1+ Paragraphs)
Probably the most notable feature is her eyes, which are deep blue and stand out quite noticeably from the rest of her features. She has relatively thick, medium brown hair with natural light brown highlights. Her hair is quite wavy and she likes to experiment with different artistic ways of wearing it. When it is down, it reaches a few inches past her shoulders.
Aleigh’s skin is very slightly tan, and she is very fit as she is very particular about keeping her body in top condition. To her the exercise is a good distraction from work that can sometimes become monotonous. She is very clean and neat, feeling that having a good personal appearance and making good first impressions are very important. Aleigh dresses very professionally and only wears the traditional robes when absolutely necessary.
Personality
Strengths:Very serious-minded, responsible, has a strong work ethic and is dedicated to doing the very best she can teaching Ancient Runes
Weaknesses:She tends to be overly logical and seem harsh at times. Aleigh can also be very impatient with people she feels are incompetent or don’t share her natural intelligence. In general, she also shies away from social situations, being more accustomed to intellectual pursuits than simply having fun and participating in shallow conversation.
Likes: Students who are enthusiastic toward learning ancient runes, reading, studying, and translated ancient texts, tea, intelligent guys (she finds glasses very attractive).
Dislikes: Dealing with students who struggle and especially those who fail to complete assignments, foolish people who annoy her, being single, and the way her father controlled her life.
Goals/Dreams: Aleigh’s immediate goal is to be the best Runes professor she can and to get more students interested in this rather obscure field of study. One of her dreams has always been to be an Auror, and she still may reach it some day. She went into Rune and teaching because of the influence of her father in discouraging her from that goal.
General Description: (1+ Paragraphs)
Aleigh’s personality is neither overly flashy or very weak; she tends to average right in the middle of being outgoing and being shy. She’ll can be social and friendly toward people when she needs to, but she prefers to being alone to being with people who make her feel uncomfortable about her lack of social skills and knowledge of current events and culture. She loves, however to discuss books and ideas about people. She doesn’t keep up on popular culture because she feels that it is passing and shallow, though others tend to give her no lack of trouble for this.
Aleigh likes having friends and people to hang out with, though she is very selective in those she decides to associate with. They tend to be very much like her – extremely intelligent and bookish, not necessarily the most socially adept. She’s very serious and seems not to understand the concept of pleasure or fun. Aleigh generally doesn’t understand the point of joking and pranks, thinking them both a waste of time. Really, she just gets annoyed with them because it is something she just doesn’t understand. Aleigh also thinks Quidditch on the whole is rather frivolous, though every once in a while she will venture out to watch a match.
Aliegh always prefers to stick with traditional and well-established methods as opposed to experimenting with new ones. She hates being forced to try new things, particularly when the old ways work perfectly fine in her opinion. Aleigh has a difficult time trusting what is new and popular.

General Description: (2+ Paragraphs)
There is very little of interest to tell about Aleigh’s history. She had the typical childhood of one born to wealthy pureblood parents – having everything she could need or want except for truly feeling the care of love of her parents. She doesn’t feel as though she missed out on much, and doesn’t hold it against her parents if they weren’t the most loving. They encouraged her to do her best and taught her to be independent, things that she feels are more important.
Aleigh excelled at school from the start, being a natural scholar. She soon realized that her enjoyment of studying and reading made her different from other students and resulted in some alienation and mocking. Because of this, she worked even harder at what she was good at; she was consistently at the top of her class in grades.
As a very responsible and conscientious student as well as a studious one, she was identified as the current headmaster as a good candidate for prefect, and served in this position for a year. Surprisingly, she was able to demonstrate a good amount of authority with other students and had a good career with the position.
At some point in her fifth year, Aleigh decided that she would like to be an Auror, and her high marks in all classes would have made her a prime candidate. When she informed her parents of this decision, however, her father firmly forbade her to pursue that career. The reasoning he gave was that it was far too dangerous, but in actuality, he was simply attempting to protect himself and his family as related to his Death Eater acquaintances. Aleigh eventually understood his true motives, and had resigned herself to her secondary career choice of the teaching profession.
For the last few years, Aleigh has been working under a well-known and very well-versed runes scholar while seeking a teaching position. When the position of Runes professor at Hogwarts opened up, she immediately applied. Dumbledore was impressed with her credentials and skills and gave her the position after only a brief interview. Fully confident in her abilities in both Runes and teaching, Aleigh is only the slightest bit nervous about beginning her first year teaching at Hogwarts.
As far as relationships go, Aleigh seems to have been very unlucky. During her fifth year at Hogwarts she started going out with a fellow Ravenclaw who had been one of her close friends for years. The two seemed to be getting very close, but at the very end of their seventh year, he surprised her and shocked her by telling her that he was actually in love with one of their mutual friends, whom he married just months after their graduation from Hogwarts.
Since Hogwarts, Aleigh has only been in one other relationship, but once again, the guy ended up not being what he seemed. After they had been dating for only a few months, he simply disappeared with only a short letter and no real explanation.
Now Aleigh is fully dedicated and focused on her teaching career. Though she is not necessarily against being in a relationship at this point, she is certainly wary of it and the possibility of being hurt again.

Elizabeth, too, was working on keeping in a sigh of frustration. So much for diplomacy and negotiating skills. Instead of the sigh, she took a silent breath and a figurative step backward. It shouldn't be this hard, she told her self. All these years of study and practices, treaties...
Turning slightly away from Major Sheppard as she searched for inspiration so that she didn't push him further away with the urgency of this life-changing decision. That was the problem, she reasoned. In all her excitement, she hadn't really taken the time to consider how amazing and even frightening all of this was. Learning about the Stargate Program to begin with had been a shock to be sure, but beyond that initial point, she had taken in everything as a scholar. Somehow it had all just become data, information to use in making decisions, and she'd become comfortable with it by treating it as such.
Elizabeth was now settled on a new tactic; not necessarily with the goal of convincing him to change his mind, but just to keep the conversation going. Communication, communication...the eternal mantra of negotiators and diplomats. Besides, she hadn't been able to discuss everything with very many people, so why not him, why not now? He was one of a few people who had clearance, and for now they had the time. She moved back over to where John was sitting and joined him on the floor, a comfortable distance away.
"I haven't told anyone else this, least of all General O'Neill, but...when I first found out about the SGC, the Stargates, all of these races I never knew existed...one of the first things I did that night was do a little research of my own," she said. "Nothing official, far from it. I couldn't seem to sleep, and on a whim I decided to do a search online - just to see what different groups thought about life outside of earth. I was just curious; it all felt so surreal." She laughed lightly in nervousness; it felt a bit foolish to her to be telling this to anyone, but...
"Of course, I found some really interesting theories, far from the truth, but fascinating anyway. Mostly it was the type of people you would expect - too incredible to be believed if you have any sense of logic. But there was this one group, they called themselves The Lone Gunmen..." Dr. Weir stopped, looking over at John to try to see what he was thinking. "But," she continued, pausing for emphasis this is incredible and illogical. And to be completely honest, I still don't really know that I fully comprehend it all, even the little that I know."
She looked back over at the major, waiting for his response. She hoped that somehow she could say something that would help, even if he still didn't decide to join them. He simply looked so lost and dejected, and it bothered her a bit to think that part of that was her fault.
