Hey, It is Emma from RPG-D.
Basic Information
Full name:James Edward Potter
Nicknames:Prongs (Marauders only) and Jamie (by his mother)
Age/Year: 11|Year 1
Gender: Male
Birthdate:April 1st
Bloodline: Pure
House:Gryffindor
Appearance
Height: 5' 10"
Weight/Body Type: James is lean. He weights 14.5 stone or 200 pounds.
Hair: James’s hair is a floppy, messy black.
Eyes:James has dark hazel eyes.
General Description: James had always been thin, but hasn't always been tall. Up until he was twelve, he was about the same height as everyone else his age. In fact, he was about the same height as all the first years. However, he soon hit a growth spurt that sent him growing exceedingly tall in only a short amount of time. He only kept growing over the years so, by the time he was sixteen, was around 5'10". James, who doesn't like when people call him thin, has always referred to himself as 'lean' which is actually the perfect definition. Since he plays Quidditch, he has gained a lot of muscle, making it impossible for anyone to ever call him 'scrawny'.
James can easily be recognized by his jet-black, untidy hair, which sticks up in one particular place near the back. This untamable hair, no matter how much gel or combing is applied, will remain in its usual up right position. However, to make up for the natural messiness of his hair, James has a tendency to mess it up further, trying to make it look as though he had just come back from flying which, he thinks, it quite the sexy look.
Lucky for James, glasses suit him. He has worn them ever since he could walk and can't stand not wearing them because - obviously - he'll be practically blind without them. Behind his glasses, are James' bright, hazel eyes. James has a longer face shape, with high cheekbones, a long nose and pale skin. His smile, people say, is one of his best features; it is infectious. His laugh, which usually accompanies his smile, is also quite infectious. James is one of those people who, once they start laughing, cause everyone else to start laughing.
Having grown up in a pureblood household, all James ever wears are robes. He has never put on a pair of muggle jeans in his life and, quite frankly, doesn't care to. He thinks that they look uncomfortable and loves wearing robes. Of course, while attending classes, James will wear his Hogwarts uniform and, when he doesn't feel like wearing those or his robes, a simple pair of trousers will do, along with his favorite Quidditch shirt.
When James enters a room, all eyes travel to him. He has a very confident air about him that everyone can notice. When he walks, he walks swiftly and with purpose, as if he has somewhere very important to go, yet with a natural ease that makes it seem like he has all day to get where ever it is he's going.
Personality
Strengths:+ Girls; every girl likes him, except the special one he wants to like him of course. He is a marauder and considerably good looking, so he has no problem in that area.
+ Quidditch; he is strong, quick and has the best broom. You are pretty much doomed at one on one or racing.
+ DADA; James just is good at it. It is not his flaw because he has always gotten Outstandings on his essays with the minimum amount of work. He doesn’t even enjoy it much. He rather get those marks in Transfiguration.
Weaknesses:+ Lily; She doesn’t seem to be interested in his charm, good looks or how many times he stands up for her by spinning Snape upside down. It was one battle that he won’t be winning for a while.
+ History of Magic; It is defiantly his weakest subject. He falls asleep with Sirius, while Remus takes notes, he copies when doing homework. He just nods off, and there is nothing he can do to stop himself.
Likes:+ Quidditch; Well he is good at it and loves it. It isn’t his fault.
+ Playing Pranks; James gets a good kick out of annoying the Slytherin or messing with the little first year. The young marauder is one to play a prank on anyone, including teachers and ghosts.
+ Rain; it's a good thing he lives in England, because James simply loves the rain. Not during Quidditch, of course, but, if he could, he would have it rain all the rest of the time. Throw in some thunder and lightning and it would be even better.
+ Butterbeer; despite some people's love for alcoholic drinks, or pumpkin juice (God knows why) James has an obsession with butterbeer. You'll always see him drinking it. When he's not at Hogsmeade, he has it ordered special from the Three Broomsticks, right up to his dormitory.
+ Celery; there's something about this particular vegetable that James adores. He's often wondered if maybe it's because his Animagus form is a Stag...or Maybe it's just because it's just that good, which he often tells everyone. In fact, it's not just celery James likes, it's all vegetables. He is very fond of healthy food and has never been much for sweets.
+ Television; sometimes, when at Remus' house, he had the pleasant experience of watching the television and was amazed by it. He couldn't believe muggles would be able to create something like that without magic. It was just so entertaining!
+ Sleeping in; James, like any normal person, enjoys sleeping late on the weekends. However, even if he enjoys sleeping in, James doesn't have any trouble waking up at seven o'clock or earlier if he has to.
+ Singing; James, admittedly, is rather embarrassed by his ability to sing. He doesn’t ever sing, because it’s not exactly one of his hobbies, but he’s actually quite good at it.
+ Girls; well, this is pretty obvious. He is a male, after all.
+ Snogging; again, for obvious reasons...
+ Parties; James has started many parties in the Gryffindor common room for a reason. He loves them and is one of those people who could party until three in the morning and then get up to go to class at six-thirty.
+ Transfiguration; not just because he's good at it, James genuinely enjoys this class and it's one of the few where he truly pays attention in it.
+ Firewhiskey; James isn't someone who likes to drink a lot, but, being sneaky enough to acquire different alcoholic drinks, he's obviously going to drink it. In fact, James has developed quite the liking for Firewhiskey.
+ Playing with a snitch; although it seems like James does it to show off, it's actually a particularly annoying habit which has been very hard to break. It all started when he was only seven years old, when his father bought him a snitch for his birthday. Ever since then, James has played with that snitch but, when he started Hogwarts, he lost the snitch and had to knick another one.
Dislikes:+ Slytherins; for obvious reasons...
+ The sight of blood; James can't stand the sight of blood. His own, he doesn't mind, but of someone else's, he can't even look at. His stomach will start doing cart-wheels and he starts feeling dizzy. This is usually the cause of amusement in his friends who, whenever they get a small cut, will stick it in James' face, just because his reaction is so entertaining.
+ People who don't like Quidditch; how can someone not like Quidditch, James always wonders. It's a crime, in his opinion.
+ Shyness; he doesn't necessarily dislike people who are shy, but he just can't understand why someone would be that way. He likes a person who speaks their mind, not keeps quiet about everything. One of his favorite hobbies is getting shy people talking.
+ Sour candy; James simply hates sour candies and can't understand why anyone would willingly eat them.
+ Discrimination; although James can be a little nervous about muggles, he definitely doesn't hate them and hates people who do; it’s same with the people who use the word 'mudblood'. He will definitely not stand for that.
+ Whining; James absolutely hates when people whine and complain. He's always the first one shouting 'suck it up!' to whoever it is complaining.
+ Being rejected; of course, nobody likes being rejected, but for James, it's an even bigger blow than it might be for someone else.
+ Girly-Girls; James has never been fond of the girls that obsess over their clothes or nails. Of course, he likes when girls look nice, but he doesn't like hearing about it continuously. That's why he's always been fond of the Quidditch girls, or girls like Lily.
Goals/Dreams: To get Lily to date him & To not get expelled.
General Description: James Potter is, and always has been, a very confident person. No one is quite sure where his confidence comes from, but it has always been there through everything he does. Of course, it's easy for his confidence to turn into arrogance and, quite often, James steps over this line. It's usually unnoticed by him because James has no idea where this line is, or that one even exists, for that matter.
When first meeting James Potter, you'll see him as a seemingly likable person who is very outgoing, eager, humorous and confident. James has a natural way of charming the people he's around with a flash of his witty smile, by making jokes or showing off in one way or another. He has a way of drawing people in and making them interested in him. James is definitely an attention seeker but, although some people think it, he doesn't really care if anyone likes him or not. He is perfectly happy with people hating him because that means enemies, which James likes, believe it or not.
James is, and always has been, fond of dueling and confronting his enemies. If someone doesn't like him, he doesn't really care - for him, it just means one more enemy to duel with. The people who he classifies as enemies are under his constant teasing and bullying. James has an uncanny talent for completely humiliating someone in front of a large group of people.
One of James’ favorite activities is Quidditch. Ever since he was little, when he would force is father to play with him in the back yard, he has loved it. And, early on, it was obvious that James had an unusual talent for it. When he was younger, James always thought that he played a good Seeker. But, once he started at Hogwarts and started playing actual games with full teams, not just one on one with his father, he realized that he was actually a much better Chaser. Now, in his sixth year, it is obvious that James makes an excellent Quidditch captain. He’s a good leader and is not afraid to point out every thing that they could be doing better as a team. Since he’s so fond of the sport, he’s also fond of lots and lots of practice. It can be tiring for everyone who doesn’t have his motivation but, once the results of all the hard work are visible, it’s obvious what a good team leader James can actually be.
Having always been a really caring person, James is constantly looking out for his friends - or Lily Evans. He'll watch out for those he isn't very close with, mainly because James likes to the attention he gets when standing up for someone. If the feelings of one of his close friends are in jeopardy, James is there. Knowing Sirius, Remus and Peter really well, he can easily tell when something is bothering him. Surprisingly, James is an excellent listener who, if needed, can offer some really helpful advice. This side isn't seen by anyone but the people he loves most in his life. This is a whole different side to James that the average school population never gets to see - unfortunately. He isn’t just a popular mischief-maker; James is actually an extremely sweet person at heart, who is very keen on sensing when other people are upset.
Background/History
Father/Occupation: Edward Potter//Unemployed
Mother/Occupation:Nyranda Sanderson-Potter//House-wife
Hometown: London, then Derby.
Siblings: None.
Pets: Hector, Tawny barn owl.
General Description: James Edward Potter was born on April 1st of 1960 to Nyranda Sanderson-Potter and Edward Potter in London, England. His mother and father, who didn't think they'd even be able to have children due to their age, were ecstatic when James was born; they named it the happiest day of their life. Nyranda and Edward were both nearing seventy when James was born. Being only a few days old, James was brought home to their giant, wizard home in the English country side. This is the same house that James spent his whole childhood life in.
Growing up in a household that had more money than they knew what to do with, James knew he could have whatever he wanted. His parents, James also knew, would give him anything he asked for. However, despite knowing this very tempting fact, James relationship with his parents was so strong that money was the least important thing to him. His mother and father knew that, since they were older, they didn't want to waste time raising James as logically as possible; their philosophy was that, if James was happy and they were happy then they were doing a good job of raising him.
When James was eleven, he started at Hogwarts. His mother and father, who were ridiculously happy about it, bought him many different things to celebrate his acceptance into school. They bought him many more outfits than needed; brand new books, even ones that weren't on his school list; the most expensive broomstick to be found; and the biggest, most expensive owl in the store.
On September 1st, despite being very excited about starting school, James was feeling sad about leaving his parents. In eleven years of life, he has only separated from them for one week, when he went to visit his long lost cousin in Ireland. James' father, for weeks before James was to leave for school, talked about his Hogwarts days with a reminiscent expression on his face. James promised him that he would write every day, telling him of everything that was going on at school. His father agreed and expected James' to write him a letter every other day, like he promised. For six years of schooling, James has kept his promised and written to his father at least four times a week.
School History: On the train ride to Hogwarts, James Potter was confident and (although not meaning to be) slightly arrogant. His parents had told him everything about the school and the wizarding world; they even pre-taught him some of the things he would be learning in classes. James felt that he had more knowledge than most of the other first years - and it was true. As he roamed the train, looking for a compartment, James introduced himself to every person he thought to be a fellow first year, keen on making as many friends as possible.
Before being sorted, James could remember being incredibly nervous. So nervous, in fact, that the moments before being sorted, James knew that he was awfully close to fainting. However, once his name was called, his nerves disappeared and he marched purposefully towards the three-legged stool and sat down. When the sorting hat called out "Gryffindor!" James was never happier in his life. He had been obsessing over which house he was to be put in ever since he got his Hogwarts letter. Sometimes he even worried of being put into Slytherin, but that was only his being paranoid. Deep down, he knew he would be put into Gryffindor, and his parents certainly reminded him as much as they could.
As the years went by, James was more and more at ease with Hogwarts and all his peers. His fellow students soon considered him ‘popular’; James adored it. This new popularity only increased James' natural confidence. His schoolwork was very easy for him, so he often had a lot of free time on his hands. James excelled in Transfiguration and was easily one of the best students in that class.
During his second year, when James found out that one of his best friends, Remus, was a werewolf, he was shocked. However, although you might think he would be a bit afraid, James found this information to be exciting. He'd never met anyone who was a werewolf, so finding out that one of his friends was one created a spark of adventure within him. He soon came up with the idea that they all study to be Animagi so they could join Remus during the full moon. Of course, everyone agreed to his plan, knowing it would be a long process.
In his third year, James, who had already been Quidditch obsessed, tried out for the Gryffindor team and made it as Chaser. Even at a young age, he was as good as some of the older students. This only increased his popularity and arrogance. He started to assume that everyone liked him, and he was right - except, of course, the Slytherins, a house that seemed to collectively hate James Potter and his 'croonies'. His 'croonies', as they were called by others, were Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. The Slytherins had a greater reason for hating Sirius, because of his being a 'blood-traitor'. James, however, would whip out his wand whenever someone called his best friend that.
In James' fourth year, he started to develop a crush on Lily Evans, his fellow Gryffindor. The only ones who knew about this crush were James and his best friends, but after awhile of trying to get Lily's attention, his crush started to grow even stronger. Although James didn't exactly realize this, friends did. His attention seeking from Lily only seemed to infuriate her, which, James thought, was surprisingly strange. He had been sure she liked him as much as everyone else did. Knowing that Lily didn't find him irresistible, James tried even harder to show off for her. This didn't work either. James, who had never been very good with women, despite his many girlfriends, didn't understand that his arrogance was exactly what Lily did not like about him. He only thought that, if he were to act even more confident, he would be sure to win her over.
In James' fifth year he, Sirius and Peter all mastered the complex spells they needed to become Animagi. James could turn into a stag; Sirius, into a dog; and Peter, a rat. This was, of course, an amazing feat and the three immediately started to accompany Remus during the full moons. The they also started to explore the school and find different secret passageways that even the caretaker didn't know about. These secrets were very helpful when they wanted to sneak out.
Now, a sixth year student, James still hasn't given up hope on Lily. His arrogance had lessened as he's matured, and James is always willing listen to the advice of his friends in trying to get Lily interested in him. Although she doesn't seem as against him as his earlier years, James still hasn't seemed to make a break through. Now, however, James seems mainly obsessed with her. A few times, he has been accused of stalking her, but, of course, he denies this. James knows a lot about her - more so than some of her friends might know. He knows her favorite things, how she smiles when she's happy, when something is bothering her, what she dislikes and what her talents are. However, with all these things about Lily that James knows, he still hasn't realized that what she dislikes his him.
James Potter has always seemed to be very popular in Hogwarts. Being an excellent Chaser and being the biggest troublemaker Hogwarts has ever known; James has always taken pride in these things. He's had more detentions than able to count, became an illegal Animagi, and created the Marauders Map. James has always wanted to do big things with his life and, it appears, he's on the right path. His future after Hogwarts, James knows, will be just as great as his school years.
Roleplay Sample: It was a Wednesday afternoon, and James was enjoying the last period of the day--his free period. He had spent about an hour in the common room, savoring the fact that there were only a couple people there, before deciding to wander the halls. Actually, his wandering wasn't just random. He had told Fabian to meet him on the first floor after classes were done for the day, and then they could go do something before dinner. James had suggested the two of them going to the pitch and flying around before dinner. That would help them work up an appetite before dinner... but they hadn't really decided on anything. Actually, he was worried that Fabian would change his mind about them doing something fun because of the large amount of Transfiguration homework they had been assigned that day in class...
Pacing back and forth, James found himself standing outside the Defense Against the Dart Arts classroom when the bell sounded. Instantly, all the classroom doors open and students spilled out. It reminded James of what it looked like stepping on an ant hill; the ants would all scatter in every direction, trying hard to escape the giant foot that had broken their home. However, in this case, there was no giant foot; just freedom.
As the students tried to get through the halls, James found himself very much in the way. He stepped back, leaning against the wall, all the while keeping his eye open for Fabian. He realized, as he stood there, that it would have made more sense to just meet him in the common room. Oh well... James sighed, watching lazily as the students pushed passed. That's when he felt someone smack into him. Annoyed, -he was clearly standing out of everyone's way- James turned quickly to see who was stupid enough to walk into him. Funnily enough, the person just happened to be someone who James definitely considered stupid: Regulus Black.
"Hey, watch where you're going, Black," James snapped. Being bumped into wasn't a big deal, of course, but since it was Regulus James couldn't resist getting mad at him. Also, James hadn't actually had any sort of confrontation with Regulus since the Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Slytherin, so he felt that the two captains needed a post-match...'discussion'.
