General Description: (1+ Paragraphs)
Severus Snape is far from having the kind of appearance that draws positive attention. For the most part, his sallow, pale complexion and greasy black only gets stares, whispers, and snickers from a distant. Severus really doesn’t mind this; in general he prefers to be left alone and not draw much attention. Even though he’s of average height, his usual posture of hunched-over shoulders makes him look shorter than he really is. The most attention he ever gets concerning his appearance is from the Marauders, who never cease to be entertained by mocking him.
As far as clothes go, Severus will always be seen in dress code. Unlike some who seem to shed their robes as soon as possible after classes, he wears his so much that many assume that Severus sleeps in his. Because his robes are old and have been very well used, their shabbiness and dirtiness only adds to his unkempt appearance.

General Description: (1+ Paragraphs)
Severus likes to think of himself as the quiet genius type of person. He is quiet and shy, far from the attention-demanders that Potter and Black are. The eleven-year-old is extremely studious, feeling that intelligence is about the only redeeming quality that he really has. Most of his time is spent studying alone in the Slytherin dungeons, since in the library he’d have a chance of running into people from other houses that he doesn’t view as favorably. Though he’s not the type to brag, Severus is excellent in almost all of his classes, though he works hard to do well.
He prefers being alone to being with just about any others. Severus’ reasoning for avoiding other students is that the odds not liking someone is overwhelmingly greater than liking someone. Besides that fact, he can get much more done on his own, without outside distractions. Naturally, the first year avoids social situations and Quidditch matches; he views them as an incredible and pointless waste of time.
Severus has a severe lack of confidence and low self-esteem that he seems to have brought with him to school from home. Though he knows he is fairly intelligent in academic areas, he doesn’t think his talents are anything to be proud of. No matter how well he does in his classes, someone else seems to be better, and his confidence suffers a major blow.
He does, however, seem to get some pleasure out of his spontaneous confrontations and duels with Potter and Black, as well as any others who may challenge or mock him. Severus would never initiate a duel with someone else, but he’s not afraid to fight back, and relishes any opportunity to put thingyy students in their places by showing them up. He generally does fairly well in these conflicts, that is, as long as he keeps his cool and doesn’t get frustrated by the tormenting the Marauders put him through doing those times.

General Description: (2+ Paragraphs)
Severus Snape did not have the pleasant childhood and experience growing up that most of the students at Hogwarts have enjoyed. Since finding out that Eileen was a witch, Snape’s father, Tobias, has been increasingly violent and hostile toward both her and his son. Most recently, there seems to be no night where he doesn’t come home drunk and in a violent temper.
Since started Hogwarts, Severus has discovered its redeeming quality of being a place of relative piece and quiet. The arguments and injuries seem a great distance away, along with his problems, though he knows that eventually he will have to deal with them again.
Roleplay Sample: (2+ Paragraphs)
Another day of monotonous ridiculousness, eleven-year-old Severus Snape thought to himself as he navigated the crowded corridors of Hogwarts school. Big words for one so young, but the somewhat reclusive youth prided himself on being able to make use of a wide vocabulary if only in essays and when thinking to himself. It only made sense to him that there had to be more to life than what he had seen before. Obviously, there was more out there than certain obnoxious Gryffindors seemed to be aware of, but then again, most of them couldn’t see past their own red and gold scarves.
Clutching his books closely to his chest to take up less space as he forced his way through the hall to his next class. Severus purposely tried to stay toward the outside edges. The walls were a sort of comfort to him, giving him the hope of not being noticed as he moved from classroom to classroom. Any attention was bad attention in his world – no one ever seemed to talk to him with the purpose of a kind word. Someone bumped into him on the left, and with a grimace Severus turned to view the culprit. He caught sight of a Gryffindor insignia on the side of a jacket as a brown-haired boy shoved his way through the crowd, traveling in the opposite direction. “Watch it,” he muttered under his breath. Snape was far from being in the mood for a confrontation, but he assumed the comment was safe – there was very little chance any one had heard him anyway.
